Dual Grit Sharpening Puck Axe & Tool Sharpener The dual-grit sharpening stone's easy-to-grip contoured shape provides for safe and simple tool sharpening. The dual-grit design features a coarse side for quick cutting and shaping, and a medium side for final sharpening and finishing of your edge.
The red puck has a fine grit of 600 and a coarse grit of 180. The blue puck has a fine grit of 400 and a coarse grit of 240. The brown puck has a fine grit of 320 and a coarse grit of 150.
How to Use the Sharpening Puck: 1. Firmly grip the tool you're sharpening or lock it in a vise to prevent slipping. 2. Apply a few drops of Honing Oil to the side of the Sharpener you'll be using. 3. Grasp the Puck firmly between your thumb and fingers, supporting it with the palm of your hand. 4. Move the Puck in a circular motion, overlapping the circles as you move along the entire cutting edge to be sharpened. (Note: for best results, maintain a consistent angle while sharpening). 5. Work one whole side of the tool's edge before repeating the sharpening procedure on the other side.
Pro Tips: - For badly worn, nicked, or very dull edges, use the coarse grit side of the stone puck first. - To apply a finer edge, repeat the process with the medium grit side of the axe head sharpener. - If your tools simply need a touch-up, skip the step with the coarse grit and use only the medium grit side.
